What Is A Tire Blowout Lawyer?

A tire blowout lawyer is a personal injury lawyer who represents people and their families in lawsuits against the manufacturer and designer of a defective and dangerous car, SUV and pick up truck tire.

How Many People Have Been Hurt By Tire Blowouts?

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2003, about 414 people died in accidents caused by flat tires or blowouts. Sadly, there were 10,275 injuries and 78,392 crashes involving these types of accidents.

What Can Cause a Tire Blowout?

Tread Separation

When the tread of the tire separates from the casing or body a tire blowout can happen. Manufacturers of tires must make sure there is a strong bond between all of the tire’s specialized rubber compounds and its piles of fabric cords and metal wires. Tread separation can happen when weak adhesives are used to bond the tire.

There are well known tread separation countermeasures that tire makers must use, including a sufficiently thick wedge as well as a full nylon cap ply reinforcement to prevent the tire from coming apart.

Sometimes a tire manufacturer will make an errors in the chemical portion of the manufacturing process which will cause the tread and steel belting not to bond correctly. This error can cause a tread separation and eventual tire blowout

Tires are made by putting together several plies or layers. When the design to make these layers it causes the tread to separate while driving down a highway.  Exposure to moisture during the tire production process may cause the tire treads to not stick together properly.

FIRESTONE TIRES

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced the recall of 127,183 Firestone FR380 tires, size P235/75R15 because of a potential safety defect.

The tires were manufactured between September 2007 and July 2008, and were produced with insufficient tread base gauge. Continued use of those tires may lead to vibration and groove cracking, while extended use could lead to tread distortion or tread separation and a loss of vehicle control.
