My deepest sympathy and condolences to the family of the man killed and woman injured in a motorcycle accident that happened Saturday September 1, 2018. This fatal crash was reported in the news as happening at 12:30 p.m. in the 6500 block of Martin Luther King Blvd. The news says a blue Ford F-150 pick up truck illegally turned in front of the motorcycle. Once again, an innocent life is taken and another innocent person is hurt because a motorist reportedly failed to yield the right-of-way to the motorcycle rider. If the reports are accurate, this tragedy could have been easily prevented if the driver had taken the time to look before they turned.

The failure to yield the right-of-way is one of the leading causes of motorcycle accidents in Texas and around the U.S.A.  According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 35% of all motorcycle accidents were the other driver’s failure to yield the right-of-way compared to only 4 percent for motorcycle operators.

Please be careful in your driving. Look for motorcycles. It is someone’s life at stake.
